Our top 5 baby names 2023: The most popular baby names in the UK

Which baby names were the most popular baby names in the UK 2023?

Our favourite poll is back! Once again we’ve dug through our treasure chest of names and looked in more depth at the names chosen by customers who purchased our personalised baby book, “Welcome to the World”. Want to see who came in first place? Read on.

Our hugely popular baby book introduces a child to our wonderful planet while inspiring parents to find wonder in the world around them. The books are printed locally and as with all Librio products, they’re printed on 100% recycled paper too, though you’d never guess. As well as being able to personalise the name and appearance of the child, you can also personalise the parents. Whether you need it for Mom and Dad, two moms, two dads or single parents, everything’s possible! The book’s available in a variety of languages including Albanian, Norwegian, Italian and French.

The most popular girls’ names in the UK

Interestingly, this year the girls’ are all newcomers, except for our number 1, Isla. Isla’s last appearance was in the Top 5 (5th place) back in 2021, but the name has gained popularity in the past year and has pipped our previous 1st place Freya to the post. In 2nd we have Mila, followed by Sofia in 3rd, Arabella in 4th and – also popular in Australia last year – in 5th we have Aurora.

Making it into the top 5 for the 3rd year in a row we have Leo. Previously consistently in 1st place, this name has now dropped to 3rd, being replaced this year by Noah. Interestingly, Noah’s last appearance in the top 5 was in 2021 in both the UK and the US but seems to have risen in popularity during 2023. In 2nd place this year we have Charlie and in 4th and 5th respectively there’s Arlo and Freddie.

If you’re looking for some baby name inspiration we’ve put together a couple more articles on this subject for both boys and girls names as well as a selection of various others which you can see here.
